the beloved flavor

1. Whether they take their tea with milk, sugar, lemon or just plain, it’s clear that the British have a fondness for its flavour.
2. There’s something about that firm bitterness that sparks devotion: the British consume 60 billion cups per year, according to the Tea and Infusions Organisation.
3. That’s more than 900 cups a year for every man, woman and child in Great Britain—though we no doubt all know someone who likes many more than that.
4. Tea has become entrenched in the British way of life, from the humble tea break to the afternoon tea to be enjoyed—in a jacket and tie, of course, gentlemen—at the very swankiest of London hotels.
from Why do the British Love the Taste of Tea So Much?”

plain
spark
firm bitterness
swanky
become entrenched in

我特別喜歡that firm bitterness that sparks devotionfirm這個形容詞好妙,有堅實 (solid)、穩固(steady)、確定不變(definite and not likely to change),茶的那種苦味,持續不變,令人覺得踏實,也因此點燃了終生的熱情(sparks devotion)
Tea has become entrenched in the British way of life... 意味逐漸用力加深的結果(to place in a position of strength; establish firmly or solidly)。
_______ has become entrenched in my way of life.

To enjoy the beloved flavor of that firm English taste, we have to read and reread.
