Menelaus款待客人，還請僕人照顧Telemachus它們的馬匹。在這兒，馬吃得比較好: 小麥 (ζειά one-seeded wheat, Triticum monococcum)加大麥 (κρῖ barley)，跟當時古希臘人吃一樣，只是馬吃的是生的穀粒，人吃的是熟食。
